I have been using lasers on patients for years! They really help people. Every patient in my practice who has a procedure done gets a therapeutic laser treatment that lasts three to five minutes. The benefits of low-intensity lasers are well-known throughout the medical, dental, and chiropractic world.
Back in the 1990s, when I first purchased my laser, I had it at home for some reason. I had pulled a muscle in my back, which had awakened me in the middle of the night with significant pain. I could not go back to sleep. Luckily, having the laser at home, I treated the spot in my back for three minutes and then fell quickly back to sleep! A wonderful device!
We are asked all the time how they work, and I will admit that I am not a scientist, physicist, or engineer. In layman's terms, the wavelengths of infrared light help to stabilize the cell membranes of cells in the area of an injury. Although all surgery is accomplished carefully, helping people can still cause injury to the adjacent cells. These cells are "instructed" by the infrared light to go back to operating normally, basically jump-starting the healing process. My staff loves our lasers because they recognize how they help things feel better.
As mentioned on another page of my site, my office has unusually low incidences of post-op infections and the dreaded "dry socket." I believe that the therapeutic laser helps my patients to heal better! We provide this service to all at no charge!
